Chemical Dispersants

What kind of Chemical Dispersants were found in the oil spill? How many animals have from them? What are we using to clean them up?

  1. There aren't any chemcial dispersants in the oil itself (though there are chemicals). The chemcial dispersants are what people are using to clean up all of the oil.
(Assuming you meant "How many animals have died from them") There isn't an exact number, because some animals that have been contaminated die in the water and are eaten by other animals, or decay under the water. What we do know, however, is that there have been a LOT of animals killed or harmed by the chemicals. Too many animals.
Right now, nobody is doing anything to get rid of the chemicals, because, until recently, everybody was under the impression that the chemicals were a safe way to get rid of the oil. Even though we now know that the chemical dispersants are harmful, we are still spraying them and not doing anything to get rid of them.
